An Emmy nominee and successful entrepreneur for almost two decades, Tippett is recognized an as international expert on emerging news models. In 2005, Tippett co-founded NowPublic. The company has been named one of the top five most useful new sites on the web by The Guardian and Time magazine named it one of the Top 50 Websites for 2007.

In 1995, Tippett founded the WebPool Syndicate, one of Canada’s first Internet companies. After the success of the WebPool venture, Tippett travelled to the United States and worked for some of the largest web companies in North America, including TheGlobe.com, Afternic and Register.com.

Outside of his role at NowPublic, Tippett is a member of the University of British Columbia’s School of Journalism Advisory Board, Capilano University, Bachelor of Professional Communication Advisory Committee and is also a board member of CABINET, a Vancouver-based arts organization. He is also an advisor to The Wireless Innovation Network British Columbia (WINBC).

He has also contributed to digital culture in fields such as media arts. In 2004 he collaborated with Kate Armstrong to produce Grafik Dynamo, a net art piece that loads live images from blogs and news sources on the web into a live action comic strip. Grafik Dynamo was a commission of Turbulence, made possible with funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

Tippett graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Philosophy.

Brian is an 18-year-old BCom graduate from the Sauder School of Business. He first captured attention with the world's first automated categorized Twitter discovery tool: Followformation.com . Followformation was featured in Mashable, Fast Company.com , The Examiner, The Georgia Straight, and most recently on the popular internet television channels Building43.com and Intruders.tv. Followformation has been touted as one of the best Twitter user discovery tools, and recently crossed its 160,000th follow milestone.

Brian has also worked with brands like 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and Best Buy Canada in their social media strategies and has spoken at events like the Vancouver Internet Marketing Conference and the 140 Twitter Conference in Los Angeles.

Since graduating, Brian has travelled to over ten international cities to meet with world-class VC's and entrepreneurs, forging his own path through the social media space through restless learning and growing. Along with his travels came an opportunity to work at one of the tech world's hottest start ups, Digg.com . Brian is now in San Francisco, developing key partnerships for Digg.

Brian is also the founder of the mobile application development company Rocketkick, creating its flagship iPhone application due for launch in January of 2010.

David Wotherspoon, partner, is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation and National Technology & Intellectual Property (IP) Groups. He is a commercial litigator whose practice is primarily in the areas of intellectual property, technology and defamation. David has assisted clients in all corresponding facets: counterfeiting, advertising disputes, and software & product development disputes.

His prior experience as a news photographer led to his curiosity in media issues. It transferred into his legal career as he pursued matters of defamation and media issues, such as publication bans. To date, David has provided advice and expertise in more than 100 defamation matters.

Many of David’s cases have involved protecting businesses that have been targeted in a way that requires intense and swift action and often injunctions to safeguard clients’ rights. David continually delivers extraordinary success in this particular area of his practice.

For more than a decade, David has also been involved in technology disputes – typically more complex transactions that include meticulous contract and document reviews, and careful but aggressive pursuit of clients' rights.

Danny has been starting and advising early stage technology companies for over 15 years. In this time, he has closed more than $100M over 9 rounds of venture capital financing. Prior to founding Bootup Labs, Danny co-founded Strutta, a platform that enables anyone, from a small publisher to the world's premier brands, to easily create online promotions centered around consumer generated content and social media. As an accomplished entrepreneur, Danny works to promote Vancouver as the tech center he believes it can be by connecting local entrepreneurs with Silicon Valley-based VCs, co-organizing the popular tech mixer, Launch Party, speaking at local and international tech events and serving on the Science World Equity Committee. Danny is a member of the Board of Directors for Strutta, Suite 101, and the Bootup Entrepreneurial Society
