A successful serial entrepreneur, Michael started his first venture while finishing university (UBC Economics). After gaining valuable start-up experience at a digital media venture incubator in Boston, Michael returned to Vancouver and started mobitus communications consulting.

In 2002, Michael co-founded FatPort, which became Canada's largest independent Wi-Fi hotspot operator. As VP Business Development he was actively involved in all aspects of the company including its operations, finances, sales and strategic planning. In 2003, Michael initiated and led the mobitus VoIP division, forming one of the first mobility-focused VoIP operations anywhere. FatPort has since been acquired by PowerStar International Inc. and Michael has gone on to found and lead Colony Networks, a Vancouver based start-up delivering managed network services to the real estate market, where clients include Bentall Real Estate Services, Cadillac Fairview, the Shangri-La Vancouver as well as joey and earls restaurants.

Michael's area of expertise is technology strategy in the digital media, wireless communications, digital payment and VoIP verticals. His primary focus lies in determining business and pricing models. He has worked with strategic partners such as Intel, Sony, Nintendo, T-Systems, Boingo, the MIT Media Lab and Bell Canada. Michael is fluent in English and German.

Tris Hussey is a long-time technologist, blogger, and writer, who started off as an academic and tech much more to his liking. After picking up blogging on a whim in 2004, he quickly became both a professional blogger and a leading expert in business blogging. He has been a part of several Web 2.0 startups from blogging software to blogging agencies and continues to write, blog, teach, and consult.

In addition to giving workshops and speaking at conferences, Tris also teaches social media, blogging, podcasting, and WordPress at UBC, BCIT, and elsewhere. His first book Creating Your First Blog: 6 Easy Blogging Projects to Start Blogging Like a Pro was published January, 2010 and his second book, Using WordPress, is due out July, 2010. Currently Tris is a consultant to companies on social media and the social media concierge for Media2o Productions.

As Managing Director of Radar DDB, DDB Canada’s group specializing in social media and emerging technologies, Justin leads a team of engagement strategists, producers, project managers and community cultivators from around the world. Among other clients, Justin oversees the Canadian Tourism Commission’s global integrated social media campaign, which Marketing called “ground-breaking” when they named the CTC 2009 Marketer of the Year. He also manages the integration of Radar DDB’s social media offering within both the local and national DDB network. Prior to joining Radar DDB, Justin worked with a number of agencies and clients in San Francisco including Goodby, Silverstein & Partners (Hewlett-Packard and Banana Republic integrated brand campaigns); Red Sky (Miller Brewing experiential websites); and SF Interactive (Shockwave.com gaming, website and online advertising).
